| Microsoft is a large software company based in Seattle and is most famous for the Windows operating system, and its founder Bill Gates. Microsoft wrote, and maintains the software the runs more desktop and laptop computers than any other in the world. Based and headquartered in Redmond, Washington, Microsoft is one of the worlds largest corporations, Founded in 1975 it's operation turnover as of 2010 was registered in the the 10's of billions. It's assets consits of 100k employees and possibly over 100 billion US$ in value. Windows was a highly inovative graphical version of MS-DOS first seen in 1984, the success is clearly seen in the fact that by February 1986, Microsoft was a publicly traded company. Microsoft has suffered it's ups and downs, but as of 2011 it's founder Bill Gates is one of the worlds richest men and it's software runs over 90% of the worlds home computers. Windows 7 - it's best received operating system to date was launched in late 2010. Microsoft has not yet announced a shipping date for Windows 8, although speculation from many sources seem to indicate that it should be available sometime in 2012. | |||||||
