| Reddit is a huge community website, with tens of thousands of users submitting interesting, funny, irreverent and/ or shocking content. The site is divided into "subreddits" which often form into their own sub-communities. Users vote on which content they would like to see rise up and onto the front page, whereby huge exposure can be gained. In late 2010 Reddit capitalised on the fall in popularity of another highly social user submitted website Digg.com. Reddit gained many users ans Digg fell our of favour with much of it's user base following some unpopular changes in both look and feel and functionality. Some of Reddit's community members organised one of the worlds largest "Secret Santa" present exchange, although the Guinness Book of Records declined the application. Reddit has been criticised on occasion for both the banality of some of the content, and for the lynch mod mentality which has been reported to "place blame where there was none". In early 2011 Reddit reported that it was receiving over one billion monthly page views, making it one of the most visited websites on the internet. | |||||||
